National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal is located in Mangalore City, Karnataka State, India. The Institute was established as Karnataka Regional Engineering College (KREC) in 1960, and upgraded as National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) in 2002. Mangalore is the headquarters of the coastal district of Dakshina Kannada, and boasts an important centre of education, business and trade in the state. Sri. U. Srinivasa Mallya, a visionary and a philanthropist, contributed immensely to the development of the coastal region of Karnataka, and his effort towards establishment of KREC (now NITK) is the most significant one. In recognition of his role as the founder and architect of the institute, the campus premises is named after him as Srinivasnagar.

Job Description

The National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal is an Institute of National Importance, established by the NITSER Act, 2007 under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The Institute is looking for young, dynamic, tech-savvy, highly motivated, and committed Post graduates in Library and Information Science from recognized Indian universities to serve as Library Professional Assistant purely on an outsourced basis for a period of 6 Months. Persons having good communication and interpersonal skills with enthusiasm and passion to learn new skills and deliver services using emerging new tools and technology will be preferred.

Eligibility

Library Professional Assistant
Qualification : Masters in Library & Information Science (M.L.I.Sc.) or equivalent with First Class.
Desirable: Candidates must have skills and knowledge to handle the Digital and Webbased library services and manage various library sections. Working knowledge of Koha Library Management software is essential. Candidates with knowledge of Open Source software like DSpace, Drupal, Joomla, and Linux Operating system will be preferred.
Selection of candidates will be based on their consistently good academic record, performance in the written test, and personal interview.

Minimum Monthly Remuneration

• Wage rate/ day ₹ 832/-
