Description
The Junior Research Fellow position at IISER Tirupati is part of the “Bird Theme – Long Term Ecological Observatory” project. This project focuses on using bioacoustics to monitor bird populations and understand the biophysical and anthropogenic drivers of ecosystem change. The role involves project administration duties and requires fieldwork to collect and analyse data on bird songs and calls. The project is funded by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MOEFCC) and is led by Principal Investigator Dr. Robin V. Vijayan.

Project Details
Project Title: ” Bird Theme – Long Term Ecological Observatory Description Bioacoustics to conduct long-term ecological monitoring for bird populations to understand the biophysical and anthropogenic drivers of ecosystem change and their effect on socio-ecological responses in various landscapes across India. This role will also include project administration duties”.
Duration: The initial offer will be for 12 months and renewable subject to satisfactory performance. The position is temporary and co terminus with the project.

Eligibility
Candidates must hold a master’s degree in biology, Life Sciences, or an equivalent discipline with at least 55% marks. Additionally, applicants should have qualified for the CSIR-UGC NET, GATE, or any National Level Test conducted by Central Government Departments and their agencies. Desirable qualifications include a valid driving license for two-wheelers and four-wheelers, over a year of fieldwork experience, proficiency in bird song and call identification, and experience with bird handling and ringing techniques.
Minimum Monthly Remuneration
- INR 37,000/- plus 10% HRA per month (Consolidated)
