The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme is the UN organization that promotes volunteerism to support peace and development worldwide. Volunteerism can transform the pace and nature of development and it benefits both society at large and the individual volunteer. UNV contributes to peace and development by advocating for volunteerism globally, encouraging partners to integrate volunteerism into development programming, and mobilizing volunteers.UNICEF through its state offices continues to provide technical assistance to planning, implementation and monitoring of the RCCE strategies for the COVID vaccine , enhancing the awareness, knowledge , attitude to influence individuals, families and communities to demand and accept the vaccine . The success of these efforts requires intensive technical oversight from the country office. A set of dedicated team members is required to lead , supervise the RCCE strategies and interventions. 

Description

Engaging in volunteer activity can effectively and positively enrich their understanding of local and social realities, as well as create a bridge between themselves and the people in their host community. This will make the time they spend as UN Volunteers even more rewarding and productive.

This recruitment will be handled by UNV India. This position is open for Indian nationals only as well as legal residents in the country or territory with the status of refugee/status of being stateless.

Eligibility

Position: NUNV Communication for Development Officer – UNICEF

A Master’s Degree in social and behavioral science, sociology anthropology, psychology, political science/international development, public policy, education, communication, public relations or other related social science field is required.

At least 2 years of professional work experience at the national and/or international level in areas of social development program planning, communications and public advocacy and/or related areas at the international and/or large organization some of which preferably were served in a developing country is required; experience within public health is an asset, as is experience working in the UN or other international development organization;

Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills;

Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing;

Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development;

Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel;

Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment;

Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines;

Sound security awareness;

Have affinity with or interest in UNICEF, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.

Minimum Monthly Remuneration

  •  The Volunteer Living Allowance of Rs. 42,473.67 (Forty Two Thousand Four Hundered Seventy Three and Paise Sixty Seven only) is provided monthly to cover housing, utilities and normal cost of living expenses. Life, health and permanent disability insurance are included (health insurance for up to 3 dependents), as well as final repatriation (if applicable) and resettlement allowance for satisfactory service
