The Institute of Mathematical Sciences (IMSc), Chennai is a National Institute of higher learning which fosters high quality fundamental research in frontier disciplines of Mathematical Sciences. IMSc has intensive teaching programme for award of M.Sc (by Research) and Ph.D. Degree.
Applications are invited for filling up the following Project position under external Project of the Institute on consolidated salary from the eligible candidates who fulfill requisite qualifications/ specifications mentioned therein. The position indicated under the project, is proposed to be filled purely on contract basis only and there is no scope of continuation/ regularization/ absorption under any circumstances.

- Project Assistant (Max Planck Partner Group on Mathematical Biology)
Eligibility
Candidate should have Master’s degree in Physics or Mathematics from a reputed institute plus at least one research publication in an indexed journal. Knowledge of network/graph theory and programming languages such as Python and C++ is essential. Master’s students who are in the final year and are expected to complete their course before 01 August 2021 can apply for this position provided they already fulfill other minimum qualifications.
DESIRABLE : Specific requirements for the position :
The selected candidate will work with the head of the partner group (Dr. Areejit Samal) on a project funded by the Max Planck Society and to be carried out in close collaboration with researchers at the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences, Leipzig, Germany. A major goal of this project is to analyze large and complex biological networks, and we are looking for candidates with a track record of published research in network science. Knowledge of network theory and programming in Python or C++ is essential. Prior research experience with handling of biological datasets is desirable.
Minimum Monthly Remuneration
Rs. 38,000/- p.m. (all inclusive)
