The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Pune is a premier institute dedicated to research and teaching in the basic sciences. It was established in the year 2006 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (renamed as Ministry of Education in August 2020). In 2012, IISER Pune was declared as an Institute of National Importance by an Act of Parliament.
Job Description
The Institute welcomes applications in the mentioned format from Indian Nationals, including eligible Persons of Indian Origins (PIOs), Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs) and Non-Resident Indians (NRI) for the positions of Fellows supported through DBT-Wellcome Trust / DBT-Ramalingaswami / DST-Ramanujan / DST-Inspire Fellowship Schemes. A1) Academic Eligibility:
a) Ph.D. in subjects relevant to the Department in which seeking an appointment.
b) Excellent research and publication record.
c) Fulfilment of any other eligibility criteria as notified by the concerned Funding agency.
A2) Application Procedure:
a) Candidates may identify any regular faculty member of a relevant department of IISER Pune as a potential host (applicable for DST-Inspire Fellowship) based on their common research interests and contact him/her with their Updated CV, Publication list, Research/
Project Proposal and Teaching Plan. Further, the candidates for other Fellowships (i.e. DBT-Wellcome Trust / DBTRamalingaswami / DST-Ramanujan) may write to the Chairperson of a relevant department
of IISER Pune directly with his/her supporting documents/ dossiers as mentioned above.
b) Candidates who have already received any Fellowship award and wish IISER Pune to host or those candidates who wish to transfer their fellowship from any other Institute to IISER Pune will also require to follow the above instructions (i.e., A2a above). However, for cases of transfer, the candidates shall be required to submit a NOC from their current Institute/ Organization/ University while applying to IISER Pune provided the funding agency permits the same.
A3) Screening and Shortlisting Method:
a) Screening of the candidates for a Research talk/ Seminar at the Departmental level shall be at the discretion of the concerned Department.
b) The Fellowship Endorsement/ Nomination letter shall be issued by the competent authority subject to fulfillment of the eligibility criteria and subsequent positive recommendations at the Departmental as well as at the Institutional Committees.
c) A shortlisted candidate shall submit his/her application to the concerned funding agency after obtaining the Endorsement /Nomination from IISER Pune.
A4) Period of Engagement:
As per the guidelines of the funding Agency for the respective “Fellowship award”.
