Dr B R Ambedkar National Institute of Technology was established in the year 1987 as Regional Engineering College and was given the status of National Institute of Technology (Deemed University) by the Government of India on October 17, 2002 under the aegis of Ministry of Education (Shiksha Mantralaya), New Delhi. Now the Ministry of Education (Shiksha Mantralaya), Government of India has declared the Institute as “Institute of National Importance” under the act of Parliament-2007.

Applications are invited from suitable candidates for Junior Research Fellow (JRF) to work on the research project sponsored by DST-IC-IMPACTS (DST/IC/IC-IMPACTS/2022/P-2(G)), under the supervision of Dr. Prangya Ranjan Rout (PI), Department of Biotechnology, NIT Jalandhar Title of the project: Phosphorus recovery from wastewater for safeguarding global phosphorus sustainability and food security: Denitrifying phosphorus accumulating organisms (DPAOs) have the merits Duration of the project: 2 years (till 20th November 2025) Initial appointment (On Purely Temporary Basis) is for one year, which is extendable up to two years or project durations whichever is earlier based on the performance. Job Profile: In this project, selected candidate will be working on: I. Isolation, characterization, and enrichments of the denitrifying phosphate accumulating organisms (DPAOs): II. Isolation, characterization and enrichments of the DPAOs: III. Design and development of single unit bioreactors (SUBs) for DPAOs culturing: IV. Techno-economic assessment and field scale study of SUBs

Eligibility

Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

Eligibility requirements: GATE qualified candidates with M.Tech in Biotechnology or equivalent in Bioprocess Engineering/ Biochemical Engineering/ Environmental Engineering or related branch with B.Tech/B.E. in Biotechnology or allied areas. The GATE qualification can be relaxed for experienced and exceptional candidates. Desirable Knowledge: Bioreactor Design, Bioprocess Development, Environmental Microbiology, Kinetic and Statistical Modeling, Biological Nutrient Removal and Recovery.

Minimum Monthly Remuneration

• Rs. 37,000/- + HRA as per institute/project norms.
