Defence Scientific Information and Documentation Centre (DESIDOC) started functioning in 1958 as Scientific Information Bureau (SIB), as a division of the Defence Science Laboratory (DSL), which is now known as Laser Science & Technology Centre (LASTEC). On May 4, 1967, the SIB was named as Defence Scientific Information and Documentation Centre (DESIDOC) under the administrative control of DSL. It became a self-accounting establishment of DRDO on 29 July 1970 and started functioning as a central information resource centre for DRDO. The Centre was functioning in the main building of Metcalfe House, a landmark in Delhi and a national monument. In August 1988, it moved to its newly built five-storeyed building in the same Metcalfe House complex. Since it became a self-accounting unit, DESIDOC provides S&T information, based on its library and other information resources, to the DRDO headquarters, and DRDO laboratories all over India.
Description
DESIDOC has various verticals like Defence Science Library, Network Services, Digital Library & E-Services, Publications, Multimedia, Marketing and Printing. All these Divisions work in close coordination with each other in fulfilling the information requirements of DRDO scientists.

Minimum Monthly Remuneration
- Apprentices Stipend Rate Rs. (Per month) Rs.8000/- to Rs.9000/-

- The candidates claiming reservation under SC/ST/OBC category certificate has to be submitting as per central government format, failing which their claim for reservation will be considered as ‘General’ category only.
- Last date to submit online applications: 21 days from the date of advertisement in Employment News.
- Selection Procedure and Criteria: Candidates will be selected on interview basis after shortlisted on the merit basis (percentage/marks of essential qualification).
- Board constituted by the Director DESIDOC for the purpose will go through the applications, and shortlist the candidates (as per the vacancies indicated above) as per selection criteria.
- Only Selected candidates will be informed through offer letter.
- Enrollment under Apprentice Act 1961: It is mandatory for candidates to enroll themselves on National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) portal (http://portal.mhrdnats.gov.in) before applying for apprenticeship training.
- Candidates who have already undergone apprenticeship training in any institute/organization are not eligible and only those who have passed out in 2019 or later can apply. A certificate in this regard may be furnished. It may be explicitly understood that subsequent to the training period. DRDO shall not offer any employment in the organisation.
