National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal is located in Mangalore City, Karnataka State, India. The Institute was established as Karnataka Regional Engineering College (KREC) in 1960, and upgraded as National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) in 2002. Mangalore is the headquarters of the coastal district of Dakshina Kannada, and boasts an important centre of education, business and trade in the state. Sri. U. Srinivasa Mallya, a visionary and a philanthropist, contributed immensely to the development of the coastal region of Karnataka, and his effort towards establishment of KREC (now NITK) is the most significant one. In recognition of his role as the founder and architect of the institute, the campus premises is named after him as Srinivasnagar.

Job Description

Applications are invited from interested and motivated candidates for the post of Project Associate-I/Junior Research Fellow and Project Associate-II to work on the R&D project titled “Design and fabrication of on-chip vertical hybrid plasmonic waveguide based nanograting gas sensor” supported by Council of Scientific and Industrial Research – CSIR, Govt of India. The selected candidate will be appointed initially for one year (on contract) and the services will be extended for next year based on the performance review.

Eligibility

Project Associate-I/JRF 01 Post Essential Qualifications (PA-I/JRF): Bachelor’s degree (B.Tech/BE) in Computer Science Engineering/Electrical/Electronics & Communication/ Instrumentation or any other relevant engineering related to photonics. The candidate with a first-class master’s and relevant experience in industry/academia/research will be given the preference. Essential Qualifications (PA-II): Bachelor’s degree (B.Tech/BE) in Computer Science Engineering/Electrical/Electronics & Communication/ Instrumentation or any other relevant engineering related to photonics. The applicant must meet the following criteria as well:

1. Minimum 2 years’ experience in Research and Development in
   Industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology
   Organizations and Scientific activities and services.
2. The candidate with first-class master’s and relevant experience in
   industry/academia/research will be given the preference.

Minimum Monthly Remuneration

Remunerations (PA-I/JRF):
(i) Rs. 31,000/- + HRA to scholars who are selected through
(a) National Eligibility Tests: CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) or GATE
OR
(b) A selection process through a national level examination conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies or institutions.
(ii) Rs. 25000/- + HRA for others who do not fall under (i) above.

Remunerations (PA-II):
(i) Rs. 35,000/- + HRA to scholars who are selected through
(a) National Eligibility tests: CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) or GATE
OR
(b) A selection process through a National level examination conducted by the Central Government Departments and their Agencies or institutions.
(ii) Rs 28000/- + HRA for others who do not fall under (i) above.
