The Junior Research Fellow position at IISER Kolkata involves theme-based research that includes computational analysis of transcriptomic and genomic data, basic programming in R and Python, and a variety of molecular and cellular biology techniques. These techniques encompass qPCR, Western blotting, DNA cloning, fluorescence imaging, gene knockdown/knockout experiments, protein expression analysis, FACS, cell culture, electron microscopy, and animal experiments. Project Details

Title of The Project: “Characterization of Transcription Factors in Neoblast Differentiation: Insights into Regenerative Medicine”

Principal Investigator: Dr. Subrata Pramanik, Department of Biological Sciences, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Kolkata, Mohanpur, Nadia – 741 246, West Bengal.

Tenure of Project: The position is purely temporary. Initial appointment will be made for one year. Upon satisfactory performance, it will be extendable for the duration of the project (approximately eighteen months at present) or till the fund availability following the SERB (ANRF) direction. 

Eligibility

Essential Qualification 

Applicants should have an MSc or equivalent degree in Life Science/ Chemical Science/Physical Science/ Engineering and Technology/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Science/ Medicine. Or, Integrated MSc/MTech/BS-MS degree in Life Science/ Chemical Science/ Physical Science/ Engineering and Technology/Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Science 

The candidates must have qualified a National Eligibility Test like GATE (with a currently valid score)/CSIR-UGC NET categories 1/2/3 or any National Level Examination conducted by Central Government Departments and their agencies and institutions. The selection and administration of the research fellow will be as per terms and conditions laid down by SERB (ANRF).

Desirable Qualification 

Hands-on experience in cell culture, animal experiments, molecular biology techniques (DNA/RNA extraction, PCR/qPCR, Western blotting), microscopy, histology, immunostaining, transcriptomic and genomic data analysis, and sequencing sample preparation. 

Should not cross 28 years on the date of application (Age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PH/Female candidates as per GOI rules). 

Minimum Monthly Remuneration

  • Rs. 37,000/- per month plus HRA as per rules
