The Institute of Mathematical Sciences (IMSc), Chennai is a National Institute of Higher Learning which fosters high quality fundamental research in frontier disciplines of the Mathematical and Physical Sciences. The Institute admits students after their M.Sc./M.Tech degree (or) B.Sc/B.Tech Degree for pursuing and obtaining doctoral degrees under Ph.D/Integrated Ph.D. programmes of 5 years and 7 years respectively in the disciplines of Theoretical Physics, Mathematics, Theoretical Computer Sciences and Computational Biology. This Institute is one of the Aided Academic Institutes under the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India. IMSc is fully funded by the Department of Atomic Energy and partially funded by the Government of Tamil Nadu.

IMSc is looking for a dynamic and innovative Scientific Officer (Systems) with strong academic and professional credentials and sufficient experience in Technical and Software skill and working knowledge.

Eligibility
Qualification : Candidates should have completed either a Bachelor’s Degree in Science (Physics/Mathematics/Computer Science/IT/Computer Applications)
(OR)
Bachelor’s Degree (B.E, B.Tech. or equivalent) in Engineering (Computer Science / ECE/EEE/IT) from a reputed College / Institution.
Experience : Minimum 03-05 years
Desirable : Experience in a similar position in a reputed academic institution.
Essential Skills :
◆ Linux/Mac/Windows System administration
◆ Knowledge of computer architecture, storage and computer networking
◆ Proficiency in Unix/Linux shell scripts, C++, Python, PHP
◆ Maintenance of software and hardware infrastructure in large data-centres
◆ Knowledge of multimedia projection, Video- conferencing, web-casting, etc.
◆ Knowledge of web applications, content management.
◆ Knowledge of IT security
◆ Ability to learn on the job
◆ Strong interpersonal skill and the ability to function in team environment
◆ Knowledge of tender processing and inventory management;
Desirable Skills:
◆ Work experience in maintaining LINUX / UNIX systems in a LAN environment
◆ Well versed in problem solving and trouble shooting
◆ Knowledge of database management systems
◆ Knowledge of HPC cluster management
◆ Proficiency in programming languages MySQL, Perl, Java, in addition to essential skills in C++, PHP, Python, Unix Shell Scripting
◆ Experience in MPI, GPU coding
Minimum Monthly Remuneration
Basic Pay : 56100 Level 10 of 7th CPC
