The Professor of Practice (PoP) role at NIT Trichy is a unique opportunity for distinguished professionals with extensive experience in non-academic sectors such as industry, research and development (R&D) organizations, government agencies, and other professional organizations. The primary aim is to bridge the gap between academia and practice by incorporating practical knowledge and best practices into teaching, research, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Professors of Practice will be responsible for designing and developing practice-oriented courses, advising and mentoring students, promoting innovation and entrepreneurship, and strengthening industry-academia collaboration.

Eligibility
Candidates should have reasonable (minimum 15) years of technical/ professional experience. They should have at least a bachelor’s degree in engineering/ architecture or master’s degree in sciences / Humanities / Management / Education/ Law or CA / CFA etc. A Ph.D. is welcome but not essential. These experts will also be exempted from the requirement of publications and other eligibility criteria stipulated for the recruitment of faculty members at the Professor level. Retired persons from industry / R&D organizations also will be considered. Professor of Practice posts are not open for those who are in the teaching profession.
Minimum Monthly Remuneration
- The monthly honorarium is Rs. 1.2 lakhs, with an additional eligible allowance of up to Rs. 40,000 per month on a reimbursable basis, inclusive of accommodation.
- For superannuated government servants, remuneration will be calculated as the last pay drawn minus pension, plus applicable TA at the time of superannuation.
