National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal is located in Mangalore City, Karnataka State, India. The Institute was established as Karnataka Regional Engineering College (KREC) in 1960, and upgraded as National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) in 2002. Mangalore is the headquarters of the coastal district of Dakshina Kannada, and boasts an important centre of education, business and trade in the state. Sri. U. Srinivasa Mallya, a visionary and a philanthropist, contributed immensely to the development of the coastal region of Karnataka, and his effort towards establishment of KREC (now NITK) is the most significant one. In recognition of his role as the founder and architect of the institute, the campus premises is named after him as Srinivasnagar.

Job Description

Applications are invited from the interested candidates for the post of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) to work on the R&D project titled “New Resilient Breakwater for Safety of Port and Harbour against Tsunami” funded by Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Government of India, New Delhi. The duration of the project is 03 years(2022-2025). Last date for receipt of the application is 15.01.2024.

Essential Qualifications & Experience : (i) B.E/B.Tech. (Civil Engineering) and M.E/M.Tech. in Geotechnical Engineering or Structural Engineering or Ocean Engineering or Marine Structures or a suitable specialisation or equivalent degrees. Candidates should have at least 60% (CGPA 6.5/10) marks in aggregate from a recognized technical institute or university. (ii) Candidate should have qualified GATE at least once in his/her academic career.

Preferable Experience/quality : Candidate should be able to work independently and flexibly. The following criterions are preferable (not mandatory) for the post.
(i) Experience of conducting lab tests or physical model tests.
(ii) Ability to carry out numerical simulation
(iii) Good communication and writing skills for technical
report/article.

Minimum Monthly Remuneration

• Rs. 31,000/- Per Month.
