National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal is located in Mangalore City, Karnataka State, India. The Institute was established as Karnataka Regional Engineering College (KREC) in 1960, and upgraded as National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) in 2002. Mangalore is the headquarters of the coastal district of Dakshina Kannada, and boasts an important centre of education, business and trade in the state. Sri. U. Srinivasa Mallya, a visionary and a philanthropist, contributed immensely to the development of the coastal region of Karnataka, and his effort towards establishment of KREC (now NITK) is the most significant one. In recognition of his role as the founder and architect of the institute, the campus premises is named after him as Srinivasnagar.

Job Description

Applications are invited from the interested candidates for the post of Senior Research Fellow to work on the DST BRICS funded project titled “Surface Engineering of Biomedical Implants for the Prevention of MDR Infection”. The selected candidate will be appointed initially for one year (on contract) and the services willbe extended for the next two years based on the performance review.

M.Tech/M.E. in Metallurgical Engineering / Metallurgical and Materials Engineering / Materials Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Chemical Engineering / Polymer Technology / Industrial and Production Engineering / Nanotechnology / Biotechnology / Bionanotechnology / Biomedical Science.

M.Sc. in Materials Science / Dental Materials / Nanoscience / Physics / Chemistry / Electrochemistry / Applied Chemistry / Industrial Chemistry / Polymer Chemistry / Biochemistry/ Microbiology / Biotechnology / Bionanotechnology / Nanotechnology.

Candidates must have at least 6.5/10 CGPA or 60 percent marks in aggregate from a recognized Technical Institute or University as a Full-Time program. Those who are appearing for M.Tech/M.E/M.Sc last semester may also apply. Proof of M.Tech/M.E./M.Sc certificate has to be provided during the time of interview.

Desirable: GATE / CSIR qualified, Experience in protein/polymer chemistry, biomaterials, and cell culture.

Age limit: 35 years

Minimum Monthly Remuneration

• Senior Research Fellow : Rs. 35,000/- per month + HRA 9%
