Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS), an autonomous organization under Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), Government of India is mandated to provide the best possible ocean information and advisory services to the society, industry, government agencies and the scientific community through sustained ocean observations and constant improvements through systematic and focused research. Some of the major activities of the organization are (1) early warning services for the coastal population on tsunamis, storm surges, high waves, etc, (2) daily advisories to fisher folk, (3) Ocean State Forecasts, (4) Ocean Observing Systems in the Indian Ocean, (5) ocean modeling processes, (6) data services, etc.
Description
INCOIS is desirous of filling up the following Scientist – C position on deputation (including short-term contract). The deputation is initially for one year, extendable further depending upon the need/requirements of INCOIS and the details of the position as per the details given.

Eligibility
Position: Scientist – C
Officers under the Central Government/ State Government/ University/ Research Institutions/ Public Sector Undertaking OR Semi-Government / Autonomous organizations having
(i) Masters degree in Oceanic Sciences/ Atmospheric Sciences / Meteorology / Oceanography / Physical Oceanography / Physics / Mathematics or its equivalent from a recognized university / institute with at least first class (60% of marks) in the qualifying degree.
AND
(ii) not less than 03 (three) years of research experience in one or more fields of Ocean Observations, Ocean Data Analysis, Ocean modeling and Data assimilation or experience in teaching (at Graduate or Post Graduate level), research and development, planning, supervision or training in fields of Physical Oceanography
AND
(iii) Holding analogous posts on a regular basis OR with three years regular service in the Level 10 (Rs.56100-177500) of the pay matrix or equivalent OR with five years regular service in the Level 8 (Rs.47600 -151100) of the pay matrix.
Desirable Educational Qualifications & Experience:
Doctorate in Physical/ Marine/ Chemical Oceanography/ Meteorology/ Atmospheric Sciences/ with research experience in any of the fields mentioned at point (ii) above and Experience with data analysis software (e.g., Ferret, GRADS, ODV etc) and programming languages (eg: Matlab,
C, Fortran etc.).
Job Responsibilities :
The selected candidates will be required to contribute in oceanography data collection, data management, data analysis, development of ocean models, ocean data analysis, research leading to improvement of models performance, providing training on various capacity building activities.
Minimum Monthly Remuneration
- Scientist – C Pay Level 11 (Rs.67,700 to Rs.2,08,700) in Pay Matrix as per 7th CPC
