Established in 2015, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Palakkad is dedicated to creating an environment that enables students and faculty to engage in the pursuit of knowledge, dream, think and innovate to become a change agent for a better world. Celebrated as a major granary of Kerala, Palakkad is the gateway to the State, from the East in the form of the nearly 40-kilometre break in the Western Ghats, called the Palakkad Gap. The Centre for Industry Collaboration & Sponsored Research (IC&SR) in IIT Palakkad has been set up in July 2018 to promote, facilitate, coordinate and administer all the sponsored and consultancy projects of the Institute. IC&SR functions as the interface between the faculty and external funding agencies (government and private agencies), both national and international.

Job Description

Notification for Recruitment of Junior Research Fellow, Data Science Project funded by Department of Science & Technology. Project Areas: The project aims at developing and implementing novel packet-level forward error – correction (FEC) schemes for video streaming.

• Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

Eligibility

Required Skills:
○ C++, MATLAB
○ Background on linear algebra, error-correcting codes, computer networking.
○ Prior exposure to video codecs, socket programming will be an added advantage. Eligibility: Master’s degree in Communication Engineering or allied areas. OR Bachelor’s degree in ECE/ EE/ CSE. The candidates should have qualified National Eligibility Tests – CSIR, UGC NET or a valid GATE score.

Remuneration

• The monthly remuneration for this position will be Rs. 31,000/– (Thirty-One Thousand Rupees Only). Hostel accommodation may be provided at the institute based on availability on a chargeable basis. In case of non-availability of institute hostel, admissible HRA will be provided as per Government of India rules.
