The main campus of IIT Mandi (Indian Institute of Technology Mandi) is in Kamand valley. The village is located in Mandi Tehsil of Mandi district in Himachal Pradesh. The IIT Mandi Cell was set up at the IIT Roorkee on 18th March 2009, to steer the activities of the IIT Mandi. . The IIT Mandi was registered as a society in Uttarakhand, on 20th June 2009.Plans were finalized for development of a Transit Campus of IIT Mandi at Govt. Post graduate College, Mandi in August, 2009 during the visit of Shri Ashok Thakur, Additional Secretary, Govt. of India, MHRD, Department of Higher Education, on Aug. 13th, 2009. This campus will start functioning in near future and will be in operation till the main Campus at Kamand is developed.

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi (Himachal Pradesh) invites Online Applications from Indian Nationals for the following Non-Teaching (Project Engineer / Estate Officer/ Executive Engineer/ Assistant Engineer/ Junior Engineer) positions. Eligibility
- Project Engineer & Estate Officer/ Executive Engineer – Bachelors’ degree or equivalent in Engineering (Civil/ Electrical) from a recognized University / Institute. 5 years’ experience in relevant field as Engineer / Asst. Engineer (in PB–3 and GP of Rs. 5400/-) from CPWD / State PWD or similar organized services / semi-Govt. / PSU/ Statutory or Autonomous organization / Universities / reputed Institute or organizations under Central / State Govt.
- Assistant Engineer (Electrical) – Bachelor Degree or Diploma in Engineering of 3 years duration in Electrical from a recognized University/Institute. 5 years’ experience in relevant field as Junior Engineer in PB-2 with Grade pay of Rs. 4200/- and analogous post.
- Junior Engineer (Civil) – Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering + 01 year relevant experience OR
Diploma in Civil Engineering of 03 Years duration with 03 years field experience.

- Project Engineer & Estate Officer/ Executive Engineer – Pay Level – 11
- Assistant Engineer (Electrical) – Pay Level – 07
- Junior Engineer (Civil) – Pay Level – 06
