The Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position is part of a prestigious ISRO-RESPOND sponsored research project at IISER Mohali, specifically within the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences. The project focuses on “Crustal Deformation Analysis in the Tectonically Active Regions of the North Eastern Region (NER) Using SAR and GNSS Data.” This research aims to enhance our understanding of tectonic activities using advanced geospatial technologies.

Project Details

Project Title: “Crustal Deformation Analysis in the Tectonically Active Regions of the Northeastern Region (NER) Using SAR and GNSS Data”.

Duration: The position is initially for one year, with the option to extend for additional years, subject to satisfactory performance and the project’s continuation. The overall project duration is three years.

Eligibility

Candidates must possess a first-class postgraduate degree (M.Sc./MTech) in Physics, Earth Sciences, Remote Sensing, Geoinformatics, Data Science, or a related discipline. Alternatively, candidates with a B.E./B.Tech. degree in fields such as Computer Science, Information Technology, Civil Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Geomatics Engineering, Remote Sensing, or Applied Physics are also eligible. A valid CSIR/UGC-NET, GATE, or equivalent national-level examination qualification is required.

Desired experience includes proficiency in programming languages like Python or MATLAB, and knowledge in SAR/InSAR/GNSS, remote sensing, geospatial analysis, or geophysical modelling. Candidates should be prepared for fieldwork in challenging terrains.

Minimum Monthly Remuneration

  • Rs 37,000/- per month + HRA as per institute norms
