Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education ICFRE was initiated way back towards the end of the nineteenth century with the advent of scientific forestry in India and the establishment of the Forest School in Dehradun in 1878. It was on 5th June 1906 subsequently that the Imperial Forest Research Institute was founded by Government of India for taking forward forestry research in the country. In 1986 the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education or ICFRE was formed as an umbrella organisation for taking care of forestry research, education and extension needs of the country. Finally on 1st June 1991, the ICFRE was declared an autonomous Council under the then Ministry of Environment and Forests and registered as a Society under the Societies Registration Act, 1860.

Applications are invited for filling up the following Deputy Director General (Research) post on deputation basis in the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE) in pay scales indicated against the post with allowances as admissible under rules in ICFRE:

Eligibility
For Members of Indian Forest Service:
Essential Qualifications:
A serving member of Indian Forest Service having completed 26 years of service with reference to year of allotment, who has at least 5 years research experience on posts in Forestry Research. The lime spent in obtaining Ph.D. degree shall not be counted towards tins minimum required research experience, imless the officer has held charge of a regular post in Forestry Research concurrently.
Desirable Qualifications: Doctoral Degree.

For Scientists:
Essential Qualifications:
A candidate having First Class Master Degree in Basic Sciences/Agriculture & Allied Sciences/Forestry & Allied Sciences and other related disciplines from a recognized University, with 26 year’s of service with reference to tire date of appointment as Group ‘A’ Scientists and who has 15 years experience in Forestry Research. The time spent in obtaining Ph.D. degree shall not be counted towards this minimum required research experience, unless the Scientist has held charge of a regular post in Forestry Research concurrently.
Desirable Qualifications: Doctoral Degree.
Hie Head quarter of the Deputy Director General (Research) shall be Dehra Dun. The Director General, ICFRE, with the approval of the MoEF&CC can transfer the incumbent from one post to other, as and when such circumstances so warrant. However, the officer appointed to the post would be liable to serve any where in India.
Minimum Monthly Remuneration
- Deputy Director General (Research), ICFRE, Dehra Dun in the pay level 15 of 7th CPC Pay Matrix (pre-revised HAG Rs. 67,000-79,000),
