The Indian Institute of Technology Jammu was inaugurated on 6th August 2016, and welcomed the first batch of students into the campus in Paloura, Jammu. In the initial phases, the establishment of IIT Jammu was done under the mentorship of IIT Delhi. In 2018, IIT Jammu shifted the primary operations to the Main Campus in Jagti, Nagrota. The State Government, Jammu and Kashmir has provided land for the establishment of a permanent campus of the Indian Institute of Technology in Jammu, which consists of 400 acres. Currently the Phase 1 A of the main campus, spread across 25 acres, is operational. Phase 1 B and 1 C are undergoing construction. The campus in Paloura currently houses the PhD scholars and is being developed into a high-end research facility.
Description
Applications are invited from interested candidates for 02 Research Internship positions to work under the VRITIKA event titled “Numerical investigation on the behaviour of geosynthetics-reinforced embankment under dynamic impact force of rockfall” sanctioned by Accelerate Vigyan, SERB. The internship students will develop numerical modelling skills while investigating effective landslide mitigation methods. The event will be conducted through offline mode for a duration of eight weeks at IIT Jammu.

Eligibility
Intern (pursuing Ph.D.) B.E./B.Tech. in Civil Engineering and M.E./M. Tech./ M.S.(R) or other equivalent degrees in Geotechnical/ Geoenvironmental/ Rock Mechanics/ Tunnel Engineering or other allied areas with minimum of 7.0 CGPA or 70% in Qualifying Degrees. Who can apply: Students pursuing Ph.D. in Geotechnical/Geoenvironmental/Rock Mechanics/Tunnel Engineering or other allied areas.
Intern (pursuing M.Tech/ M.E. / M.S. (R) / Equivalent degrees) B.E./B.Tech. in Civil Engineering with minimum 7.0 CGPA or 70% in Qualifying Degree. Who can apply: Final year students pursuing M.Tech/M.E./M.S. (R)/ Equivalent degrees)Geotechnical/Geoenvironmental/Rock Mechanics/Tunnel Engineering or other allied areas.
Desirable Qualification
☛ Good academic record and experience in the relevant areas of specializations.
☛ Valid GATE score in relevant engineering stream.
☛ Strong background and understanding of any Finite-Element based software.
☛ Publication(s) in recognized national/international conferences and journals of repute.
Nature of Support
- The internship will be given for meeting daily necessary expenses such as stationery, consumables, accommodation, food, etc, as per the norms of the funding agency.
- The period of the Training and Skill Internship shall be for eight weeks.
- The participating students will also be eligible for TA reimbursement for their journey to the host institute from their hometown/home institute, both ways, as per the GoI norms.
- Certificate will be provided to the interns after the successful completion of the internship tenure.
