The project focuses on understanding the flight dynamics of small insects in response to atmospheric moisture, which is crucial for developing UAVs capable of operating in diverse environmental conditions. The research aims to explore how fog and dew affect the water repellence of insect wings, thereby influencing their flight. The outcomes will aid in creating power-efficient drones for applications like disaster relief, agriculture management, and reconnaissance.

Eligibility

  • Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

The applicant must meet at least one of the following two criteria: 

 i. Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering / Aerospace Engineering / Chemical Engineering from a recognized institute and with exceptionally good academic record with a minimum CGPA of 6.5 on a 10.0 point scale (or 65% marks) + good GATE/NET score 

 ii. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering / Aerospace Engineering / Chemical Engineering from a recognized institute and with exceptionally good academic record with a minimum CGPA of 6.5 on a 10.0 point scale (or 65% marks) + good GATE/NET score 

  • Research Associate-I

i. Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering / Aerospace Engineering/ Physics from a recognized institute

 ii. Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering / Aerospace Engineering / Chemical Engineering/ Physics from a recognized institute and with a minimum CGPA of 6.5 on a 10.0 point scale (or 65% marks)

 iii. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering / Aerospace Engineering / Chemical Engineering/ Physics from a recognized institute and with a minimum CGPA of 6.5 on a 10.0 point scale (or 65% marks)

Minimum Monthly Remuneration

  • Junior Research Fellow (JRF): As per extant rules
  • Research Associate-I: Rs. 58,000/- per month
