The Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, Surat is inviting applications for research personnel positions under a prestigious project funded by the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, New Delhi. The project focuses on developing “Secure and Energy Efficient Mixed Domain Compute in Memory-based AI Accelerator Chip for Edge Applications” – a cutting-edge research initiative in the field of artificial intelligence and semiconductor technology.
This recruitment is being conducted by the Department of Electronics Engineering and offers positions on a purely contract basis initially for one year, with the possibility of extension on yearly review basis for the entire project duration of 5 years. The positions are designed to provide researchers with hands-on experience in advanced AI accelerator chip design, in-memory computing, and edge computing applications.

The recruitment strategy prioritizes Junior Research Fellow positions, but in case suitable candidates are not available for JRF posts, the institute will consider applications for Project Associate-II and Project Associate-I positions based on the eligibility criteria mentioned in the advertisement.
Eligibility
The eligibility criteria vary based on the position level and are governed by specific government orders from DST (Department of Science and Technology):
For Research Personnel (Junior Research Fellow):
- B.E./B.Tech./M.E./M.Tech. in Electronics/Electronics & Communication or equivalent degree
- Must be qualified in National Level eligibility test: CSIR-UGC NET or GATE
- Minimum aggregate First Class or CGPA 6.5 for all qualified degrees
For Research Personnel (Project Associate-II):
- B.E./B.Tech. in Electronics/Electronics & Communication or equivalent
- 2 years’ experience in Research and Development in Industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organizations
- Upper Age Limit: 35 years
- Minimum aggregate First Class or CGPA 6.5 for all qualified degrees
For Research Personnel (Project Associate-I):
- B.E./B.Tech. in Electronics/Electronics & Communication or equivalent
- Upper Age Limit: 35 years
- Minimum aggregate First Class or CGPA 6.5 for all qualified degrees
Desired Skills:
- Digital/Analog/Mixed Mode Circuit Design and HDL Coding
- In-Memory Computing expertise
- AI/ML and Processor Architecture knowledge
- Proficiency in Python/MATLAB programming
- Knowledge of Operating Systems (Windows/Linux/CentOS/RHEL)
- Server handling and network file system experience
- Familiarity with Cadence/Synopsys/Mentor Graphics EDA tools
Minimum Monthly Remuneration
- Research Personnel (Junior Research Fellow): Rs. 37,000/- + HRA @ 20% per month
- Research Personnel (Project Associate-II):
- With GATE/NET: Rs. 35,000/- + HRA @ 20% per month
- Without GATE/NET: Rs. 28,000/- + HRA @ 20% per month
- Research Personnel (Project Associate-I):
- With GATE/NET: Rs. 31,000/- + HRA @ 20% per month
- Without GATE/NET: Rs. 25,000/- + HRA @ 20% per month
All positions offer House Rent Allowance (HRA) at 20% of the basic salary, making the total compensation package quite attractive for research personnel in the field of electronics and AI technology.
