The National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli (NIT Trichy) is inviting applications from Indian Nationals for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) or Project Associate – I. This opportunity is part of a cutting-edge research project in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, led by Dr. Shelas Sathyan. The project aims to develop a high-performance reconfigurable bidirectional DC-DC converter with advanced modulation strategies, funded by the Advanced Research Grant (ARG).
Description
This project focuses on creating a structurally reconfigurable, bidirectional Dual Active Bridge (DAB) DC-DC converter, which is crucial for applications such as electric vehicles and DC microgrids. The research addresses the limitations of conventional DAB converters, such as limited Zero Voltage Switching (ZVS) and high circulating currents under varying voltage and load conditions. By integrating topology morphing techniques with advanced modulation strategies, the project aims to minimize power losses and expand ZVS boundaries. The deliverables include design and analysis of topologies, simulations, robust control methodologies for mode transitions, and validation through hardware prototypes, ensuring high efficiency across diverse operating conditions.
