The National Institute of Technology Silchar is inviting applications for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in the Department of Chemistry. The project titled “Development of Genetically Engineered Microalgae, Membrane-Based Photobioreactors and Microalgal-Derived Acid-Base Bifunctional Activated Biochar for Enhanced CO2 Capture and Biofuel Generation: A Life Cycle Assessment” aims to innovate in the field of biofuel generation and carbon capture. The research will involve the use of advanced biotechnological methods to engineer microalgae and develop photobioreactors and biochar for sustainable energy solutions.

Project Details

Project Title: “Development of Genetically Engineered Microalgae, Membrane-Based Photobioreactors and Microalgal-Derived Acid-Base Bifunctional Activated Biochar for Enhanced CO₂ Capture and Biofuel Generation: A Life Cycle Assessment”.

Duration: 02 (Two) years or till Completion of the Project, whichever is earlier (extension of selected candidates would be based on performance reviewevery12months).

Eligibility

Candidates must hold an M.Sc. in Chemistry, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or a related discipline with a minimum of 60% marks. Experience in research areas such as microalgae, photobioreactors, CO2 capture, and biochar is desirable. The age limit is 28 years, with relaxations applicable as per Government of India rules.

Minimum Monthly Remuneration

  • ₹37,000 per month plus HRA as per DBT/Institute norms.
