The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Meghalaya is one among the thirty one NITs in India established under the NIT Act 2007 (Amended 2012) of the Parliament of India as Institutes of National Importance with full funding support from the Ministry of Education (Shiksha Mantralaya), Government of India. Description

Applications are invited from motivated and eligible candidates for the position of Junior Research for the project entitled “Development of support vector machines based software for cavitation level monitoring in a Francis turbine” in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, NIT Meghalaya funded by CPRI, under Ministry of Power, Government of India.

Project brief: In this academia-industry collaborative project, an artificial intelligence (AI) based cavitation monitoring software (MATLAB based) will be developed which will be tested in a hydroelectric power plant at Subansiri, Assam. Acoustic emission and accelerometers will be mounted in different important locations to capture data which will served as training and testing set for AI. The cavitation imaging will be performed using high speed camera.

  •  Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

Eligibility

JRF: MTech/ME (or, BTech with valid GATE score) in Mechanical Engineering with specialization in Design/Manufacturing/Fluid and thermal with a minimum of 60% marks or an equivalent in Master’s degree (or, 75% marks or an equivalent in Bachelor’s degree with valid GATE score). Age limit: Must not be over 28 years as on 25th January, 2023. Relaxation for SC/ST & PH as per GOI norms.

Minimum Monthly Remuneration

  • Consolidated monthly compensation / Fellowship: Rs. 31,000/ month.

  5. No TA/DA will be provided for attending the interview.
  6. The shortlisted candidates will be informed through email for interview by 31-01-2023.
  7. Physical Interview will be held. The same will be informed by email.
  8. Candidate selected for this position will be converted to regular Ph.D. program of NIT Meghalaya.
  9. Original documents of age proof/certificates/degrees/mark-sheets and other testimonials must be presented at the time of interview.
