Job Opportunity at NITK Surathkal

The Department of Water Resources & Ocean Engineering at NITK Surathkal is seeking a qualified Project Assistant to join their team. This role is part of a project aimed at the quantitative retrieval and spatio-temporal analysis of soil quality parameters in the Western Plains and Ghat regions of Karnataka. The project leverages cutting-edge geospatial datasets and machine learning techniques to achieve its objectives.

Description

The Project Assistant will be involved in a research project sponsored by VGST, focusing on soil quality analysis using geospatial datasets. The role requires a strong foundation in Geoinformatics, Remote Sensing, and related fields, with an emphasis on applying machine learning techniques to environmental data.

Eligibility

Candidates must possess an MTech in Geoinformatics, Remote Sensing and GIS, Water Resources Engineering, Hydrology, or Agricultural Engineering, or an M.Sc. in Geoinformatics, Remote Sensing, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Information Science. 

Alternatively, candidates with a B.Tech in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Information Science are eligible. A minimum CGPA of 6.5/10 or 60% marks for MTech/M.Sc. candidates, and 7.0/10 or 70% marks for B.Tech candidates is required. Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of Hyperspectral and Microwave Remote Sensing, AI-ML applications, technical writing skills, and coding experience.

Minimum Monthly Remuneration

  • Rs. 25,000 (consolidated)
