The research in the area of Climate Dynamics Modelling has been started in the University of Allahabad with the establishment of twin centres namely K. Banerjee Centre of Atmospheric and Ocean Studies (KBCAOS) and M. N. Saha Centre of Space Studies (MNSCOSS) in the year 2000 and 2001 respectively with the financial support from National Centre of Atmospheric and Ocean Research (NCAOR), Goa [Ministry of Earth Science (MoES)] and Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) under the academic leadership of Prof Avinash C Pandey. The faculty associated with these centres have successfully completed GoI projects with funding to the tune of more than Rs. 8.00 crores. The KBCAOS participated in the scientific expedition to Southern Ocean/Antarctica on board R/V Akademik Boris Petrov (ABPetrov) in 2006 and 2009 to obtain surface, atmospheric and oceanic data of southern ocean.

Eligibility

Project Scientist II 01 Post Essential Qualification: (a) Doctoral Degree (PhD) in Science with Post Graduate Degree in Atmospheric and Ocean Science/Earth System Science/Meteorology/Geophysics/Physics/ Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Science OR ME/MTech degree in Earth System Science/ Meteorology/Atmosphere/Ocean/Marine/Mechanical/Civil/Computer Engineering/Information Technology from Govt. recognized Universities/Institutes (b) Three Years’ relevant experience of research and development in an Academic Institution or Science and Technology organization. Desirable Qualification: Preference will be given to candidates having: (a) Knowledge of Mathematical Modeling, Climate Models, Variability and Predictability of Indian Monsoon, Big Data Analysis and Display tools, Artificial Intelligence, HPC, LINUX, MATLAB, C++, Python (b) At least Five (05) research publications in Science Citation Indexed (SCI) journals of repute (c) Secured at least 60% marks at the Post Graduate degree (MSc/ME/MTech) level.

Research Associate II Essential Qualification: (a) Doctoral Degree (PhD) in Science with Post Graduate Degree in Atmospheric and Ocean Science/Meteorology/Earth System Science/Geophysics/Physics/ Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Science OR Three Years’ relevant experience of research and development in an Academic Institution or Science and Technology organization After ME/MTech degree in Earth System Science/Meteorology/Atmosphere/Ocean/Marine/Mechanical/Civil/ Computer Engineering/Information Technology from Govt. recognized Universities/Institutes (b) One (01) research publication in Science Citation Indexed (SCI) journals of repute. Desirable Qualification: Preference will be given to candidates having: (a) Knowledge of Mathematical Modeling, Climate Models, Variability and Predictability of Indian Monsoon, Big Data Analysis and Display tools, Artificial Intelligence, HPC, LINUX, MATLAB, C++, Python (b) PhD degree in relevant discipline and at least Three (03) research publications in Science Citation Indexed (SCI) journals of repute (c) Secured at least 60% marks at the Post Graduate degree (MSc/ME/MTech) level.

Research Associate I Essential Qualification: (a) Doctoral Degree (PhD) in Science with Post Graduate Degree in Atmospheric and Ocean Science/Meteorology/Earth System Science/Geophysics/Physics/ Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Science OR Three Years’ relevant experience of research and development in an Academic Institution or Science and Technology organization After ME/MTech degree in Earth System Science/Meteorology/Atmosphere/Ocean/Marine/Mechanical/Civil/ Computer Engineering/Information Technology from Govt. recognized Universities/Institutes (b) One (01) research publication in Science Citation Indexed (SCI) journals of repute. Junior Research Fellow (JRF) Essential Qualification: Essential Qualification: (a) Post Graduate Degree (MSc/MTech) in Atmospheric and Ocean Science/Earth System Science /Meteorology /Geophysics/Physics/Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Science OR BE/BTech/MTech degree in Meteorology/Atmosphere/Ocean/Marine/Mechanical/Civil /Computer Engineering/Information Technology from Govt. recognized Universities/Institutes (b) Must have cleared UGC NET/CSIR NET/GATE/National Level Examinations conducted by Central Govt. Departments and their Agencies and Institutions. Desirable Qualification: (a) Preference will be given to candidates having knowledge of Big Data Analysis and Display tools, Mathematical Modeling, Climate Models, Artificial Intelligence, HPC, LINUX, MATLAB, C++, Python (b) At least 60% marks at the Under Graduate and Post Graduate degree level.

Remuneration

  • Rs. 67000 + 18% HRA for Project Scientist II
  • Rs. 61000 + 18% HRA for Research Associate II
  • Rs. 58000 + 18% HRA for Research Associate I
  • Rs. 37000 + 18% HRA (first 2 years) as JRF and Rs. 42000 + 18% HRA (from 3rd to 5th year) as Senior Research Fellow (SRF) for Junior Research Fellow (JRF)
