The Indian Institute of Technology (ISM) Dhanbad is inviting applications for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under a prestigious project funded by a renowned agency. Description

The selected candidate will engage in the development and characterization of friction stir welded lithium-ion battery modules specifically for electric vehicle applications. Key responsibilities include synthesizing and characterizing battery-related materials, conducting electrochemical testing, performing microstructural analysis, and evaluating the electrical and thermal performance of welded joints. The role also involves conducting laboratory experiments, data analysis using scientific software, maintaining research documentation, and assisting in prototype fabrication and validation. Candidates with prior experience in electrochemical techniques and advanced material characterization will find this role particularly rewarding.

Eligibility

Candidates must possess a Post Graduate Degree in Mechanical, Electronics, Computer Science, or M.Sc. in Chemistry, Material Science, Nano Technology, or Energy Sciences. Alternatively, candidates with a Graduate/Post Graduate Degree in a Professional Course selected through National Eligibility Tests like CSIR-UGC NET or GATE are eligible. Desirable qualifications include an MTech or PhD in relevant fields, with knowledge in energy storage materials, lithium-ion batteries, electrocatalysis, supercapacitors, and electrochemical characterization. The maximum age limit is 35 years, with applicable relaxations for SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy layer)/PWD candidates as per Government of India norms.

Minimum Monthly Remuneration

• ₹37,000 per month for the first two years
• ₹42,000 per month in the third year, post successful assessment
