The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Mohali is inviting applications for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in a DST-CSRI funded project. The project focuses on investigating hypothalamic neural circuits related to parkinsonian cognitive and motor dysfunctions using advanced neuroscience methods.

Description

The Junior Research Fellow will be part of a dynamic team working on a project that aims to map, characterize, and target hypothalamic circuits using mice models. The role involves assisting with surgeries, injections, and behavioral assays related to cognition and motor functions. The fellow will receive comprehensive training in data collection, analysis, and documentation to support audits and scientific publications. Additionally, the position includes contributing to essential lab operations, such as procuring and maintaining reagents, supplies, and animal stocks necessary for the project.

Project Details

 project Title: “Targeting a novel hypothalamic circuit to reduce parkinsonian cognitive and motor” 

Duration: 1 year initially (extendable for additional 2 years).

Eligibility

Candidates should hold an M.Sc. or equivalent degree in Biology with at least 60% marks. They must have qualified for the CSIR-UGC National Eligibility Test, GATE, JAM, or equivalent national level exams. Preference will be given to those with prior research experience in neuroscience and animal handling. Familiarity with genetic engineering techniques and proficiency in programming tools such as Python or MATLAB is advantageous.

Minimum Monthly Remuneration

• Emoluments as per DST norms
