IISERs were created through a proclamation of Ministry of Education, Government of India, to promote quality education and research in science and related areas. The first two IISERs (Pune and Kolkata) were established in 2006. This was followed by an Institute at Mohali (2007), Bhopal & Trivandrum (2008), Tirupati (2015), and Berhampur (2016). IISERs were incorporated as Institutions of National Importance under the umbrella of the NIT (Amendment) Act, 2012 (NIT Act 2007). The Act was further amended in 2014, entitled the NITSER ACT 2014. Each IISER is a degree-granting autonomous institute.

Applications are invited from Indian nationals for a post of “Junior Research Fellow” in the MHRD-STARS sponsored project “Diamond Quantum Sensors for Nanomagnetometry of Magnetic 2D Materials”.

- Junior Research Fellow/Project Associate
Eligibility
Project Associate: M. Sc. in Physics, M.Tech/B.Tech in ECE/EE/CS/Physics or related disciplines with good academic record (first class/division or minimum CPI of 7.0/10.0). Candidates having experience with 2D Materials, Quantum Information, Scanning Probe Microscopy, MOKE Measurements, Cryogenics, Quantum Sensing and LabVIEW Programming will be preferred.
Junior Research Fellow: M. Sc. in Physics, M.Tech/B.Tech in ECE/EE/CS/Physics or related disciplines with good academic record (first class/division or minimum CPI of 7.0/10.0). qualified a National Eligibility Test (UGC, CSIR, LS, GATE, etc.) with a valid rank/score at the time of applying for this post.
Minimum Monthly Remuneration
- Junior Research Fellow: Rs. 31,000 p.m. + HRA (16%).
- Project Associate: Rs. 25,000 p.m. + HRA (16%)
