Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Bhopal Applications are Invited for A Junior Research Fellow (JRF) /Project Associate

IISERs were created through a proclamation of Ministry of Education, Government of India, to promote quality education and research in science and related areas. The first two IISERs (Pune and Kolkata) were established in 2006. This was followed by an Institute at Mohali (2007), Bhopal & Trivandrum (2008), Tirupati (2015), and Berhampur (2016). IISERs were incorporated as Institutions of National Importance under the umbrella of the NIT (Amendment) Act, 2012 (NIT Act 2007). The Act was further amended in 2014, entitled the NITSER ACT 2014. Each IISER is a degree-granting autonomous institute.

Description

The JRF will be involved in developing deep learning and machine learning models for computer vision and biometrics data. It will involve testing their resiliency against vulnerabilities and therefore, developing a robust and fair machine learning system. A candidate who has an interest in general-purpose machine learning including its theoretical aspect can also apply. Applications are invited from highly motivated and eligible candidates for the recruitment of Project-based Junior Research Fellows (JRF) or Project Associates purely temporarily to work full-time in the project titled “Fair and Trustworthy Computer Vision and Biometric Systems” Funded by MHRD, Government of India.

Eligibility

Position: Junior Research Fellow/ Project Associate
Essential Qualifications :

● Students with M.Tech./M.E./M.S./M.Sc. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related fields from a recognized Institute/University.
● Good knowledge of Python programming language.
● Good knowledge of machine learning algorithms or at least toolboxes like Scikit-Learn, TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch, etc.

Tenure of Appointment:

The appointment will be initially for one year from the date of his/her joining the institute, which may be extended later depending on the availability of funds and/or terminated earlier based on the performance of the candidates. It might be a good opportunity for a candidate to also apply for a Ph.D. position later if interested in pursuing research.

• Age: Should not exceed 35 years as of 01 December 2023 with usual relaxation for SC/ ST/OBC/ Differently abled and exceptional candidate(s).

Minimum Monthly Remuneration

Junior Research Fellow –

Rs 25,000 to Rs 31, 000 + HRA (as applicable) per month (Consolidated pay with no other allowances).
