Government of India founded the Central University of Tamil Nadu, along with eight other Central Universities, through an Act of Parliament in 2009. It is part of the greater role that the Central Government assumed in making higher education accessible to aspirants from the weaker sections of the society. With eight students in M.A. English Studies, the university started functioning from November 2009, at the Collectorate Annexe at Thiruvarur, 60 kilometers to the east of Thanjavur. But today the University sits astride a major tributary of the famous Cauvery river in the heart of the Delta seven kilometers to the north-west of Thiruvarur.

Applications are invited from interested candidates for the post of Research Assistant (1 No.) at the Department of Geography, School of Earth Sciences, Central University of Tamil Nadu for a ICSSR funded Minor Research Project (ICSSR No. 02/70/OBC/2022-2023/ICSSR/RP/MN dated 21.03. 2023).

Position

• Research Assistant (purely on temporary basis)

Title of the Project: Assessing the implications of aquaculture on environment and socioeconomic conditions in the northern coastal plains of Tamil Nadu: A step towards sustainable shrimp farming

Eligibility

Essential Qualifications: Post Graduate in Geography or related Social Science disciplines with minimum 55 % marks
Desirables: Candidates with relevant experience in the field of geospatial technology and/or having NET / PhD qualification will be given preference

Minimum Monthly Remuneration

Fellowship: Rs. 16,000/- p.m
