The Central University of Gujarat is inviting applications for the engagement of project staff for a research project titled “Kafala Migration Regimes and Development Outcomes.” This project, funded by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), New Delhi, seeks to fill positions for one Research Assistant and two Field Investigators. Description

The project aims to explore the Kafala migration regimes and their development outcomes, focusing on migration from Maharashtra to Gulf countries, particularly Saudi Arabia. The research will be conducted under the guidance of Dr. Sajaudeen Nijamodeen Chapparban, Assistant Professor at the Centre for Diaspora Studies, Central University of Gujarat. The project duration is set for 24 months, from 2026 to 2028.

Eligibility

The eligibility criteria for the positions are as follows:

Research Assistant:

• Essential: NET/M.Phil. /Ph.D. qualification. in an interdisciplinary discipline with a minimum of 55% marks from a recognized University.
• Desirable: Experience in development studies, sociology, public policy, or related fields, with skills in data analysis, report writing, and academic publications.

Field Investigators:

• Essential: Postgraduate degree in Social Sciences, Humanities, or allied disciplines with a minimum of 55% marks from a recognized University.
• Desirable: Experience in community-based research and proficiency in MS Office and related software.
• Preference for candidates from Latur district and other regions of Maharashtra.

Minimum Monthly Remuneration

• Research Assistant: ₹37,000/- per month (Consolidated)
• Field Investigators: ₹20,000/- per month (Consolidated)
