Description

The ANRF Junior Research Fellow (ANRF JRF) position at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad is part of a project focused on enhancing rainfall and flood forecasting across India. The selected candidate will work on developing bias correction and downscaling methods to improve precipitation estimates and use hydrological models to simulate flood responses. This role is crucial for advancing the accuracy of flood forecasting, leveraging satellite-based rainfall datasets.

Eligibility

Candidates must possess an MTech. in Water Resources Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, Hydrology, Environment Engineering, Geoinformatics, Remote Sensing & GIS, Civil Engineering, Earth Sciences, or equivalent specializations. A GATE qualification is mandatory. B.Tech. graduates in Civil Engineering or Agricultural Engineering & Technology are also eligible. Candidates awaiting their MTech. results can apply. Desirable qualifications include exposure to hydrological modelling, large-scale climate and remote sensing datasets, and proficiency in MATLAB, Python, or R. The upper age limit is 28 years, with age relaxation applicable as per Government of India rules.

Minimum Monthly Remuneration

  • ₹37,000 per month plus 20% HRA for the first two years
  • ₹42,000 per month plus 20% HRA for the third year
  • HRA is applicable in lieu of non-availability of hostel accommodation
